Mostly why I would like you to meet them is because they are awesome people.
Did you know that our members help with serving breakfast at Orange Sky? - One does more than that as she is also a volunteer with them.
Also, some of our Chaplains volunteer as Coffee Chaplains at the Faith in Action Coffee & Op Shop in the Holy Trinity hall in Gordon street. 
Some of our Chaplains are also School Chaplains,
Some volunteer with Grapevine Safe talk and the Heart Foundation.
​Some of us are involved in THE WAY OF THE CROSS - telling the story of Good Friday - 5pm on Good Friday :-)   All are welcome - it is FREE. (BYO chair to Bluewater Quay - if bad weather, come to Holy Trinity church in Gordon Street).
We are only a small group - BUT MIGHTY!
An important aspect of our ministry - the "Wind beneath our wings", is that some of us meet for prayer with others in the community.  We do this on a Tuesday morning at 11:30am - just for a half an hour.   ALL are welcome to join us for this, as we not only pray for our Chaplains, but for all our community. 

Mackay Street Chaplains have continued to serve our community.  We consider this an incredible privilege.  It is the safest way to gain confidence in relating to people, caring for those who are in need of an ambulance, and generally understanding about drugs, alcohol and safety.  There are so many good people in our community and we feel incredibly blessed to be able to help when these great people suddenly find themselves in trouble. 
If you'd like to join this organization, please understand that we ARE a Christian organisation, but not all our members are associated with a church.  If you have a heart for people and you are willing to work within our Christian ethos, we'd love to chat and have you do an observation shift with us.

Chaplains have been back on Shifts since July. :-) 
Recently we had a social... a BBQ on the river.  Thank you to our Regional Council for such an awesome facility. :-)   And thank you to our wonderful Chaplains for great company and an enjoyable time.

Has it been a time like no other!  Well, certainly not in my life time.  Mackay Street Chaplains have felt the blow of the lock-down.  However, we seek to maintain our service in a different way.  You can now contact us for a chat and maybe even request a prayer - completely confidentially, of course, by contacting us on 0476 120 400.  It is the number on our wristbands!  Many of you have it already, but now we have Chaplains on stand-by from 8am-10pm ready and willing to be a caring, non-judgmental and listening ear.  We do hope to see you all out having a great time again soon, but in the meantime.... we are still here for you. :-) 

We've been BUSY - We've marched in the ANZAC parade, meeting for Prayer at 11:30am each Wednesday and been organizing some exciting activities....


​Lots of exciting things happening this month, beginning with our Training night on the 14th May 2018.  Nigel Dalton teaches us about drugs and alcohol.  We welcome anyone who is interested in joining us to come along.

Also, the end of this month is the National day of thanks.  To that end, Mackay Street Chaplaincy are celebrating a whole month of giving thanks... and a couple of fun activities also.

On October 9th, four Chaplains attended the National Chaplaincy Conference.  Lots of great exciting things to report back.  The plan is to pass on some of the great things we learnt at our next Chaplains meeting.
Our Chaplaincy monthly meeting is always open to anyone who'd like to know about Chaplaincy and joining us on the streets.
This thing we do is an amazing adventure - I highly recommend it. 

On the 7th of August at 6:30pm at 21 wood street Mackay, Benita from Liquor Licensing will be talking to us.
Those who haven't recently attended Mental Health Training are encouraged to register for Safe Talk training, taking place on the 26th of September.
But wait .... there is more..... 
Chaplains sharing time is planned for early September.... this is where Chaplains learn from each others experiences.

This Sunday Mackay Street Chaplaincy will be giving a presentation about who we are and what we do.  This is happening at the City Impact Church in Wellington Street, Mackay on Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
If anyone would like to be there, I'm sure you are most welcome.... especially our Chaplaincy family.  It is always great to have other members there to give their perspective on how they've found the experience of this amazing adventure.

 Recently we've begun to see a greater incidence of festive costumes on the street.  There were Halloween costumes and Hen's night antics and pretty soon many end of year dinners and parties.
According to the Police reports, the crime in the city heart has had a 25% reduction.... THAT IS HUGE!  We like to think that we are part of that good news story.
The benefit for all, is that you can know that a night out can be safe and can be great.  Friday and Saturday - remember we are on the WesPac corner as well as wondering around.  If you need us, we are always happy to help.... it's what we do.

Pretty soon we will have our own end of year dinner.  The celebration is not just end of year, but also Christmas and also our birthday.  December is our 4th Birthday...!  Four years of being on the streets.
